Bent poplar embroidery hoops, with French knots alluding to the compacted/collected pollen by honeybee workers (pollen baskets). This work was meant to be a collection (aesthetic) of the range of regional pollen pigmentations.
This early work is still beckoning me and directly influence more recent works, such as the previous one.
The embroidery frames are more intimate in size and materials, and also having a domestic sensibility to them.
These are about 14" dia. and 1.5" deep; poplar, cotton muslin, embroidery floss. 1992? Doesn't matter..
